The Light Infantry Division: The Towed Medium Range Multirole Missile System

 
 
 
 The Medium Range Multirole Missile System shall be the only guided missile artillery system in the British Army's Heavy Cavalry,Medium Infantry and Light Infantry Divisions and the Royal Navy's Royal Marine Division. 
 
 
Within the Heavy Cavalry Division the Medium Range Multirole Missile System shall be mounted on a variant of the Charger family of Cavalry Heavy ARmoured vehicles.
 
 
 
 Within the Medium Infantry,Light Infantry and Royal Marine Divisions,the Medium Range Multirole Missile System shall be mounted on protected towed carriages.
 
 
 
 The Towed Medium Range Multirole Missile System shall consist of Medium Range Multirole Missiles,a protected,Towed Medium Range Multirole Missile Launcher and a protected,Towed Medium Range Multirole Missile Controller.
 
 
 
 The Towed Medium Range Multirole Missile System shall fire the same medium range missiles as the Falklands Class destroying frigates.
 
 
The Towed Medium Range Multirole Missile System shall fire the same medium range missiles as the Eagle Class flying ships.
 
 
 
The Towed Medium Range Multirole Missile System shall fire the same medium range missiles as the Super Merlin or Ultra Merlin Helicopters.
 
 
 
The Towed Medium Range Multirole Missile System shall fire the same medium range missiles as the Perseus patrol aircraft.

The Towed Medium Range Multirole Missile System shall fire the same medium range missiles as the Furious fighter aircraft.
 
 
 
 The Towed Medium Range Multirole Missile Launcher shall use mechanical components from the Light Protected Truck family of vehicles,shall be protected to STANAG 4569 Level 3 and shall be equipped with radio and cable communication systems for remote and silent operation.
 
 
 
The Towed Medium Range Multirole Missile Launcher shall have a low signature in the visual,thermal and radio spectrums and it's missiles shall be concealed and protected within it's enclosure when not ready to fire,such that it shall not look like a missile launcher.
 
The Towed Medium Range Multirole Missile Launcher shall be manually loaded to eliminate the need for mechanical handling equipment.
 
 
 
The Towed Medium Range Multirole Missile Controller shall use mechanical components from the Light Protected Truck family of vehicles,shall be protected to STANAG 4569 Level 3 and shall be equipped with radio and cable communication systems for remote and silent operation.
 
 
 
The Towed Medium Range Multirole Missile Controller shall have a low signature in the visual,thermal and radio spectrums and it's sensors shall be concealed and protected within it's enclosure when not in use,such that it shall not look like a radar system.
 
 
 
 The towed Medium Range Multirole Missile Controller shall have a rotating sensor array consisting of a thermal camera,an Identification Friend or Foe transceiver,an Electronic Support Measures receiver and a Medium Range Radar transceiver enabling active and passive target detection,identification and tracking.
 
 
 
 The Medium Range Multirole Missile System shall be less vulnerable to location by counter battery radars than 105mm,4.5 Inch,120mm,125mm,5 Inch,130mm,152mm or 155mm weapons due to it's ability to engage at greater distances from enemy radars,the performance of which is range dependent,and it's missile's ability to fly on a low level flight path with a shorter radar horizon at any given range.
 
 
 
The Medium Range Multirole Missile System shall be able to achieve counter battery fire superiority over 100mm,105mm,4.5 Inch,120mm,125mm,5 Inch,130mm,152mm or 155mm weapons as it's missiles have a shorter time of flight allowing the enemy less time to exit their firing position.
 
 
The Towed Medium Range Multirole Missile Launcher and Towed Medium Range Multirole Missile Controller carriages shall be able to emplace or displace in two minutes thereby reducing the range at which enemy ballistic counter battery fire may be effective.
 
 
 
 The Towed Medium Range Multirole Missile Launcher and Towed Medium Range Multirole Missile Controller shall be able to deploy obscurants and decoys thereby turning a direct hit from a terminal homing missile in to a near miss which shall be survivable due to ballistic protection.
 
 
 
The Towed Medium Range Multirole Missile Launcher and Towed Medium Range Multirole Missile Controller carriages shall normally be towed by the Light Protected Truck or Medium Infantry Vehicle but may also be towed by the Field Car.  
 
 
 
 A Super Merlin or Ultra Merlin helicopter shall be able to carry ten gunners internally and either a Towed Medium Range Multirole Missile Launcher or  Towed Medium Range Multirole Missile Controller as a sling load,a total weight of eight long tons,to a radius of fifty miles.
 
 
 
A Centaurus aircraft shall be able to air drop four complete Towed Medium Range Multirole Missile Systems,each with a Launcher and Controller,and up to one hundred and sixty gunners (eighty to a radius of at least four thousand nine hundred and fifty miles). 
 
 
 
The Towed Medium Range Multirole Missile System shall replace the Rapier missile system.
 
 
 
The Towed Medium Range Multirole Missile System shall replace the Exactor missile system.
